What to expect from a JR League team meeting

One of the most important things we try to instill in our teams is teamwork. It is not easy for a lot of kids to build Legos as a team, so this can be a challenge sometimes. A typical meeting starts out with individual “builds” guided by the team coach – one example might be asking them to build something that represents what they think life we be like in 50 years. The bulk of the meetings are spent learning and building as a team or smaller groups of 2-3 children – and communicating ideas (not always easy for the younger kids to do, but very important as they progress to the Senior team.) The goal of the season is to build a creation that they have all contributed to and which addresses some real-world problem (within specific guidelines).
