Volunteer Opportunities

Southern Maine Gearbots is ‘gearing’ up for the 2019-2020 season. We are looking for new board members and volunteers to keep this great organization running. Learn More at our Upcoming Meeting, November 3rd Join us at the Saco Community Center, 75 Franklin St., in Saco on Sunday, November 3 at 2:30pm to learn how you can help make this season a success.  Board Member Opportunities  Last spring, several key board members retired due to their children aging out of the program. We are looking for parents with younger children to step into the following roles: PresidentVP Senior LeagueVP Junior LeagueTreasurer These positions are critical in order to be able to run the 2019-2020 season. The outgoing board members have offered to mentor new board members and help with the transition.  Other Volunteer Opportunities  We are also in need of town liaisons to act as points of contact for your local teams, as well as people to help with fundraising and assist at the district meet.  Southern Maine Gearbots depends on volunteers to run the organization and make this great STEM-based program affordable and available to kids across southern Maine.  Please join us November 3rd to learn more! Smitty’s Benefit Fundraiser

Join us at Smitty’s Cinema to benefit Southern Maine Gearbots! Our organization was created in 2011 to introduce students in grades 1 through 8 to the concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math using building blocks and computer software. We use the US First Lego League Junior Program for students in Grades 1 through 3 and Lego Mindstorm with the Maine Robotics Track Meet Challenges for students in grades 3 through 8. Raffle Tickets 1 for $1 6 for $5 15 for $10 Raffle will be drawn and winners will be notified on March 6 All donations and raffle proceeds go directly to support our organization. District Meet Coordinator – This role is for coordinating the group’s District Meet, including organizing donations, setting up our fund raising efforts, as well as organizing concessions and other various money making activities involving food items at our district meets and for any other fund raising activities.
