Our organization was created in 2011 to introduce students in grades K through 8 to the concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math using building blocks and computer software.  We use the US First Junior  Lego League Program for students in Grades K through 3 and Lego Mindstorm with the Maine Robotics Challenges for students in grades 3 through 8.  For more information, please contact us at info@smgearbots.org











We are now planning for our 2014 Season!  

The 2013 District meet will be held Saturday March 30th at St. Joseph's College in Standish at the Alfond Center, from 9am-11:30pm.

Registration for the 2013 Season is now closed.  Please contact us at info@smgearbots.org if you would like additional information about our programs.


The 2013 Season is scheduled to begin the week of January 14, 2013. 
Groups will meet on one weekday night a week Monday thru Thursday through the first week of April culminating in a District Meet.  
Team Meetings in Windham will be held at the Primary School and Middle School.  
Team Meetings in Saco occur at the Rec Center.

District Meet 2012
Our First District Meet was held on April 7th at St. Joseph's College in Standish Maine.  Over 19 teams with over 115 K through 8 students competed with their Lego Robotic projects.  It was a great event.  Special thanks for our main Sponsors for this event, Wright Express, St. Joseph's College, Bob the Screenprinter and Maine Space Grant Consortium.

High School FRC competition robots from Gorham/Falmouth Northern Force Team, Bonny Eagle High School BERT133, and Cape Elizabeth VEX robotic program.

  
Jr League - For children grades K-3.  This group is modeled after the JR FIRST Lego League.

Focused on building an interest in science and engineering in children grades K-3. Junior League is a hands-on program designed to capture young children's inherent curiosity and direct it toward discovering the possibilities of improving the world around them. Just like the SR League this program features a real-world challenge, to be solved by research, critical thinking and imagination. Guided by adult coaches students work with LEGO elements and moving parts to build ideas and concepts and present them for review.

Sr League - Serving children grades 3-8.  This group is modeled after the FIRST Lego League. 

Introduces students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. Sr League teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society.

Elementary and middle-school students get to:
